With an emphasis on experimentation, Foodprep—a local DJ mix series—invites artists to curate music that is nourishing to the soul. The Pittsburgh Cultural Trust, in partnership with local event organizers Transit, proudly presents the series’ first-ever in-person event during October’s Gallery Crawl at Wood Street Galleries.
Foodprep curator and Transit resident, Lexcd, brings together a mix of past contributors and beloved local talent for Fusion, a nod to the blend of genres and practices central to the series. The night will feature live sets from local artists Lefafa, GLO-TREE, and Zone Farmer. The event will conclude with a performance by Ramzilla, a Montreal-based producer and DJ known for her work with Music from Memory, RVNG Intl, and 12th Isle. Both she and our local talent embody the Fusion theme in their own ways—a seamless blend of diverse genres such as jazz, Balearic, dub, and other hybrid experimental electronic and organic sounds.
Jennifer Shin & Laurie Trok, artists known for their multidisciplinary approaches to food as ephemeral art, will assemble bites onsite as performance, sculpture, and nourishment for guests. Cecil Usher (of Mindful Hospitality Group) will curate a bar menu featuring new original craft cocktails designed uniquely for Fusion. Media artists Ma’Xin, consisting of Matthias Neckermann and Qixin Zhang, return to Pittsburgh to take over the visual transformation of Wood Street into a multi-sensory experience.
Join us at 8 PM for the final hours of October’s Downtown Gallery Crawl. Arrive early to settle in, grab a bite, and stay late as we journey through a night of eclectic, left-field sounds. We look forward to seeing you on the dance floor.
